Contrast the timeless monuments of the Pharaohs with the grand maritime heritage of the Greco-Roman world on our Cairo & Alexandria 2 Days by Bus Excursion. Operating daily across all months of the year, this multi-city route is crafted for travelers aged 3 and up who want to experience the massive shift between Egypt’s current capital and its ancient Mediterranean seat. To maintain seamless city-to-city transfers, timely check-ins, and high-quality guiding at every landmark, daily availability is capped at 15 passengers. Traveling in a spacious long-distance coach, this tour links the Sinai Peninsula to the Great Pyramids of Giza and the historic coastal fortifications of Alexandria.
Day one begins around 1:00 AM with an early morning pickup from your Sharm El Sheikh resort lobby for a 6-hour drive to Cairo. Upon arrival, your professional English-speaking guide will lead you straight to the Giza Plateau to stand before the Great Pyramids of Cheops, Chephren, and Mykerinus, and explore the valley temple of the Great Sphinx. In the afternoon, you will tour the Egyptian Museum on Tahrir Square to marvel at 5,000 years of Pharaonic antiquities, including the priceless gold funerary collection of King Tutankhamun. After a local lunch and time for an optional motorized sailing boat ride on the Nile, you can browse traditional Egyptian bazaars. Your evening wraps up with a transfer to a modern Nile River cruise ship, where you will check into your cabin, enjoy an open-buffet dinner, and watch a live show of traditional folk music and dancing as you sail.
On day two, after breakfast onboard at 7:00 AM, you will board your coach for a 200-kilometer drive north to Alexandria. Your coastal exploration begins at El Montaza Park, a 200-year-old royal estate originally built by the Mohamed Ali dynasty that now serves as a presidential summer retreat surrounded by manicured Mediterranean gardens. Next, you will visit the striking, modern Bibliotheca Alexandrina—a tribute to the Great Library of Alexandria, classical antiquity’s premier house of knowledge. The historical tour continues with a stop at the Coptic Patriarchate, the resting place of Saint Mark the Apostle, followed by the beautiful Abu al-Abbas al-Mursi Mosque, an architectural masterpiece dedicated to a 13th-century Sufi saint. Your final archaeological stop is the 15th-century Citadel of Qaitbay, a Mamluk fortress built directly upon the ruins and salvaged stones of the fallen Lighthouse of Alexandria—one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. After a fresh seafood dinner at a local restaurant overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, you will re-board your coach for the return drive back to your Sharm El Sheikh hotel.
